TAWPI Launches Healthcare Payments Automation Council
Group will bring together key industry stakeholders to drive improvements in healthcare payments.
Building on the success of its popular Healthcare Payments Automation Summit, TAWPI is launching the Healthcare Payments Automation Council (HPAC) - a first-of-its-kind group designed to provide industry stakeholders with a forum for information, networking and advocacy in healthcare payments automation.
HPAC will cover all facets of healthcare payments processing and the growing demand for technologies, processes, and tools to reduce cost, increase efficiency and improve patient care. Discussion topics will appeal to operations, technology, compliance and business professionals alike.
"Healthcare payments remain an inefficient and costly burden for everyone. If the potential of electronic payments is going to be realized, payors, providers, processors and patients alike all need more information," said Frank Moran, president of TAWPI. "HPAC will be a dynamic, interactive forum for industry stakeholders to get the information they need to meet operational and market driven challenges in healthcare payments automation and document management."
The goal of the Healthcare Payments Automation Council is to deliver qualitative insight to operations, management or technology professionals and solution providers involved with patient payments, claims processing, billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, lockbox, payment processing or cash management. This information will be delivered through monthly facilitated virtual roundtables on strategic topics, in-person meetings twice a year and exclusive research. The HPAC will also produce an annual "State of the Industry" report and a Buyer's Guide.
HPAC discussion topics for the first half of 2010 include:
- Healthcare providers' payment practices
- Trends in the emerging healthcare payments industry
- The future of patient collections
- Migrating to electronic payments
- The future role of banks
- Privacy, security and compliance issues
