Google Desktop Search and Google Earth Software Bundle Allows Road Warriors to Find Important Documents and Locations of Key Contacts

Visioneer, Inc., a leader in intelligent imaging solutions, today announced the Visioneer RoadWarrior, an easy-to-use, yet powerful mobile scanner for handling all the document needs of the business traveler, from expense receipts to business cards and documents for only $199.99. The Visioneer RoadWarrior, based on Visioneer's award-winning Strobe design, measures only 2" x 1.5" x 11.4" and weighs a mere 10 ounces. Visioneer also announced today that they have signed a distribution agreement with Google Inc. to bundle Google Desktop and Google Earth with Visioneer scanners. Google Desktop is a client application that allows users to easily search their computer, providing full text search over email, files, music, photos, chats, viewed web pages, and more.

Combined with Nuance OmniPage Indexer, scanned document images are OCR'd in the background and indexed to Google Desktop making both paper and "born digital" files on a PC, searchable by content. Google Earth is the only program that can deliver a 3D digital map and directions of the entire earth via the Internet, "because every road warrior needs to know where they are and where they're going." Users can point and zoom to anyplace on the planet. Satellite images and local facts zoom into view, enhanced by Google search to show local points of interest and facts.
