Sitecore Cites Three Industry Trends That Will Change Web Content Management In 2008
Sitecore, the leading provider of .NET Web Content Management System (CMS) and portal software, recently announced that, based on Sitecore's research and customer's experience, three major trends are driving how enterprises are better leveraging web content management to create more compelling websites and provide better customer interaction. These key trends are the "integration of Web CMS into the enterprise," "the growth of .NET Framework" and "adoption of mobile computing." Sitecore notes that while these trends began to be seen in 2007, they will have a noticeable effect on the market in 2008.
One key trend is how enterprises are incorporating web content management into their business processes. A recent survey of 44 Sitecore US customers found that 100% of these companies have integrated search and nearly 50% have integrated CRM with their web CMS. Additionally, a significant number of companies have incorporated video management, e-commerce and ad-serving. In 2008, Sitecore is launching more scalable rich features that are easily and seamlessly integrated into the enterprise's CMS and .NET framework to ensure that the website supports more key business functions.
The theme of integration and scalability is also seen in the growing adoption of the .NET Framework in the enterprise. A recent analyst report notes that the .NET Framework is now one of the two most commonly used development platforms. By building user experience, communications and workflow advances, and including capabilities to support standards-based Web services, the framework is better able to scale to large enterprises and integrate advanced Web CMS capabilities. The greater adoption of .NET helped Sitecore recently win customers such as the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, and Microsoft in 2007.
Major sites are now incorporating mobile computing and Web 2.0 functionalities. Phones and laptops have changed the way that people use and interact with the Web and have allowed them to see content whenever and however they are connected. For example, Atlanta Falcons recently built a new award-winning website with Sitecore's CMS that incorporated Web 2.0 features with advanced multimedia delivery and integrated social networking features.
"Sitecore is seeing a big change with website integration and scalability," said Darren Guarnaccia, VP Product Marketing. "We've learned from customer surveys and our own research that a very large number of our new customers and industry RFP's have as a requirement that all their content on their websites be accessible by mobile devices. Now, more than ever, businesses and web developers alike are looking to better leverage their marketing and branding efforts through their websites and Sitecore will continue to innovate and provide the most advanced Web CMS products that enable enterprises to achieve these key goals."
