FormFix Version 3 Released By Pegasus Imaging

Advanced forms processing technology is now available through an object-oriented .NET interface.

Pegasus Imaging Corporation, the leading provider of document imaging technology, today released the latest version of FormFix, providing .NET and ActiveX COM interfaces for its powerful forms processing development kit.

Software developers can perform bitonal template-based form identification, form registration, form dropout, and OMR on scanned forms. Highly flexible and optimized for speed, FormFix's superior form recognition and form registration improve ICR, OCR, and OMR accuracy. It easily interfaces with Pegasus recognition engines, and with any recognition engine supporting memory-to-memory data transfers. ImagXpress™ and ScanFix® Xpress are included with FormFix for image handling, advanced image cleanup, and TWAIN scanning.

New features include an object-oriented API with .NET components or ActiveX COM controls, an improved OMR algorithm, advanced image cleanup and deskew, improved image handling, a full-featured trial evaluation process, and integrated documentation.

Chris Lubeck, Pegasus Imaging's vice president of software development, said, "These updated components provide application developers with component-level access to advanced forms processing technology. The flexible architecture supports integration with the Pegasus ScanFix image cleanup and SmartZone™ OCR components, and third-party image processing components."

FormFix rapidly matches incoming images to the correct form in the form set. Advanced proprietary algorithms are applied to avoid exponentially-increasing processing times often associated with large form databases. FormFix includes numerous features that improve recognition speed and accuracy, such as automatic scaling, rotation, and warp-compensation during identification, registration of forms without requiring alignment marks, and form dropout with character repair. FormFix is ideal for high-volume forms processing.

Powerful OMR features include support for multiple bubble shapes, grids of bubbles, confidence thresholds, and recognition of multiple marks in each grid. These features make it easy to specify how forms are processed, and improve the speed and accuracy of mark recognition.

FormFix can be purchased alone or as part of FormSuite™, which packages Pegasus Imaging's forms processing components into one convenient product. A FormSuite purchase includes licensing for FormFix Professional v3, SmartZone OCR Professional v1, ScanFix Xpress Bitonal v5, and ImagXpress Document v8. FormFix v3 is the upgrade path for customers currently using form recognition, form registration, form drop out, and OMR of bitonal images within the Prizm® IP, FormFix v2.8x, or SmartScan Xpress™ ICR/OCR/OMR products.
