Calhoun County, Mich., Begins E-recording With Simplifile
Calhoun County is now accepting electronic documents for recording through Simplifile, providing document submitters with a faster, paperless recording method online.
Calhoun County, MI (PRWEB) - Calhoun County is now accepting electronic documents for recording through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service, providing document submitters with a faster, more cost-effective recording method online.
“With the assistance of our vendor, Simplifile, we feel comfortable and confident that Calhoun County will make a smooth transition to a more paperless system that will enhance our Register of Deeds’ office by receiving and delivering land records,” said Calhoun County Clerk and Register of Deeds Anne B. Norlander. “E-recording will greatly benefit our land record customers. The mailing back and forth of documents that do not meet recording requirements will be a thing of the past. We will now be able to do all necessary correspondence electronically.”
Using Simplifile’s secure, web-based service, customers ranging from title companies to banks, attorneys, and lien filers, have the ability to scan or upload and submit documents directly to the county where they are reviewed, stamped, recorded, and returned electronically in minutes.
“It is our plan to e-record all land record documents,” Norlander said.
Customers also have the ability to track and view the status of their documents that have been submitted through Simplifile, making it easier and more cost effective to correct and resubmit any rejected documents. If an electronic document is rejected for any reason, customers are notified immediately through Simplifile, giving them the ability to quickly correct and resubmit the document back to the county.
“Calhoun County Land Records are available for viewing and purchase athttp://www.co.calhoun.mi.us. This is our next step in becoming a paperless register of deeds’ office,” Norlander added.
Recording fees and payments can also be processed securely through Simplifile, helping to reduce payment errors.
“We’re excited to be working with Calhoun County and to help provide them and their customers with this easy-to-use, time-saving technology,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile.
Calhoun County is the 34th county in Michigan to adopt Simplifile’s e-recording service and joins more than 1,300 counties nationwide that also e-record with Simplifile.
High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.
